Raleigh man charged with assaulting elderly mother

A 45-year-old Raleigh man was charged Sunday morning with assaulting his mother who is in her 70s, according to an arrest warrant.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 45-year-old Raleigh man was charged Sunday morning with assaulting his mother who is in her 70s, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant states that Jonathan Albert Ray struck and pushed his mother, causing her to fall to the floor. She suffered minor injuries.

Ray was charged with assault on a female. He was placed in the Wake County jail under a $5,000 bond.

Ray's criminal record, which dates to 1981, includes two convictions for assault on a female, according to state Department of Correction records.
