Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh man has been charged with speeding to elude arrest after police said he led them on a chase exceeding 100 mph.
Victor Jesus Acosta, 21, of 3900 Cass Court Apartment 2C in Raleigh, is also accused of careless and reckless driving while running a red light Thursday at about 75 mph, according to a warrant released by the Raleigh Police Department.
Highway Patrol Trooper S.P. Scherbekow said he attempted to pull over Acosta on Leesville Road for a speeding violation. After the trooper exited his vehicle, police said Acosta fled from the side of the road and failed to stop at two red lights while speeding at 105 mph in a 45 mph zone.
After running another red light, police said Acosta’s vehicle struck a ditch and flipped about three times.
