— Garner police arrested a 21-year-old Raleigh man on Wednesday and charged him with first-degree burglary, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and resist, delay and obstruct.

Robert Jerome Henderson, of 5827 Waterford Crystal Court, is accused of entering Westchester Apartments, 905 7th Ave., Apt. G16, at 8:42 p.m. Police said he pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money, which the victim gave him.

Officer Sonny Roberson and his K-9, "Bear," responded to the 911 call and found Henderson in the Forest Hills Shopping Center parking lot.  Henderson ran and Bear stopped him, without biting him, police said.

Henderson threw down a gun, causing it to discharge, and then surrendered, police said. The gun and stolen money were recovered, and Henderson was taken to the Wake County Jail.

Henderson was released from prison Nov. 30, 2009, after serving a year for selling drugs and taking indecent liberties with a minor, according to state Department of Correction records.

bronzegoddess40: The last time I was in one of those neighborhoods was when I went into Sandlin Branch looking for my son's bike that someone stole from outside my back door. I found it there laying by the side of the road. Of course they are all human being...we are all human being. But when you have a neighborhood of black people, you have a high crime area. It's mostly the young people...the ones with no daddys around and mamma's that don't care what their kids are doing. Do yourself a favor...walk you bronzgoddess self around there at night and see what happens. Go knock on doors yourself and see if you come away with a different point of view.

There are three neighborhoods in Garner where crime is in abundance...Westchester (along with accompanying Forest Hills Apts), Bryan Woods and Sandlin Branch. Can you guess the makeup of the tenants?

I would guess human beings would be the makeup of the tenants. Now some may not be good ones and then there may be some good human beings in there too. Maybe you should go door to door and try to find out.

2kidz1hub: Yes, I've lived in Garner since age 5. I know about these areas and their problems because I've lived in Garner since age 5.

Do you live in Garner? How do you know so much about these areas?

NCAries: My historical basis is that I've been keeping up with the news for years and I see what's going on. Of course nothing is absolute or 100%, but I'm not wrong based on what I see happening on a daily basis.

The main point of my initial post was to inform others of the high crime areas in Garner, since I've lived there most of my life. The fact that these areas are comprised of blacks almost exclusively is relevant.

Can someone point out any high crime areas in or around Garner that are predominantly comprised of white people?

And if he doesn't get his life in order, then he will do it again next time he's released...and again...and again!

It's a fact that most white collar crimes are committed by white people, and most violent crimes such as robbery, carjacking & drugs are committed by black people. Have you not been paying attention for the past 20 years? Well go tour Central Prison or Polk Youth Center and you'll get it.

I wonder if there's any type of historical basis in the statistics you present...I'm sure there is but I'm also sure noone wants to discuss the cause and effects...just another case of the country reaping what it's sowed.

jcrawford34: I think you understood my point just fine. This story is about a violent home invasion and robbery, and black people commit these types of violent crimes in a much larger percentage than their population. It's a fact that most white collar crimes are committed by white people, and most violent crimes such as robbery, carjacking & drugs are committed by black people. Have you not been paying attention for the past 20 years? Well go tour Central Prison or Polk Youth Center and you'll get it.

    fatchanceimwrong:

And your point is? I'm sure I can guess the makeup of all races that commit various crimes in America. No need to single anyone out. From corporate fraud to petty theft, I believe all races have their hands in the corrupt pot.
