Raleigh teen arrested for impersonating police officer

A 16-year-old was arrested Saturday for impersonating law enforcement.

RALEIGH, N.C. — EDITOR'S NOTE: All charges against Mathis Tart Dean were dismissed, and his criminal record expunged in 2017.

A teenager was arrested Saturday and charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.

According to officials with the Raleigh Police Department, Mathis Tart Dean, 16, was driving a pickup truck with a blue light on the dashboard when he was spotted by an off-duty Raleigh police officer near Buffaloe Road and Valley Steam Drive.

Officers arrested Dean shortly after he was located.
