— A Raleigh man was arrested Sunday in connection with an armed robbery after leading police on a car chase in Roanoke Rapids and then trying to flee on foot, police said.

Jereme Eugene Mackey, 22, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, second-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting a public officer.
Police said he had an additional outstanding warrant for resisting a public officer in Wake County.
Weldon police and deputies with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed robbery call around 5 p.m. in south Weldon, authorities said. While responding to the scene, officers tried to stop a car matching the suspect vehicle description.
The car did not stop and led police on a chase into Roanoke Rapids, where Roanoke Rapids police also got involved, sheriff's officials said. The car crashed on Hinston Street and N.C. Highway 48, and the people inside fled on foot.
Mackey was detained several minutes later, police said. He was being held at the Halifax County jail under a $1 million bond. He was scheduled to appear in court April 6.

1 million bond is money his family don't have. Now he will set in jail until trial time. A lot of time to think of his wrong doing and what he did to his family.

What a disappointment he has been to his parents! Now he is facing 20 years at least in prison. He just ruin his name and it will be hard for him to get a job once he is out of prison. Pray for this young man and all young men that they will listen to someone and not be so hard-heady and wind up in prison. Pray and thanks.

No Raleigh is bleeding into other cities, the criminal is from Raleigh.

gmuny is a Durham defender, always gets huffy when someone comments about Durham and the crime rate there. Fact is, this guy is from Raleigh, not sure of the point. If they published every article about someone from Durham committing a crime, WRAL would have to install additional servers to publish it.
