— A Raleigh man who led Durham and Person County Sheriff's deputies on a chase across three counties was arrested early Monday, according to the Person County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say Carlos Martinez Coleman, 19, of Sturdivant Street in Raleigh, stole a silver 2000 Volkswagen Beetle from the Fas-Mart on Durham Road in Roxboro just after midnight.

Coleman drove south on North Roxboro Road into Durham, authorities said.

According to the Durham Police Department, officers flattened all four tires of the car with stop sticks at the corner of Roxboro Street and Latta Road.

Despite having four flat tires, Coleman continued into Durham on Duke Street before getting on I-85 South. He was arrested a short time later after stopping the stolen car near exit 157, authorities said.

Coleman was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, felony speeding to elude and other traffic violations.

No other information was released.

why wasnt my comment approved??? Roxboro police should learn to ticket people for blocking the flow of traffic for riding in the left lane instead of constantly ticketing people for going 3mph over the limit! I'm ashamed to live in roxboro because of the way people drive in this town!!

"He should be deported at once. Of course liberals will laud him for Occupying Stolen Property. Red Rascal

I've read this article twice now and watched the vid and surprising there is nothing in either that indicates this person is in the US illegally. Feedback is encouraged.

I've noticed that most writers and on air people haven't the foggiest knowledge of proper use of tenses. All they seem to know is the present tense.

The most annoying people are sports announcers. Their mouths run constantly, They don't care what they say as long as they're talking. They have no idea of proper grammar and everything is in the present tense. Of course, in their defense we must remember that most of them are broken down former jocks whose education ceased around the 6th. grade when it was discovered that they could play a sport well. Also the second the camera is on them they start waving their hands around like demented referees.

Why does someone have to be in the US illegally to be deported?

    "....felony speeding to allude "

    Editing, from the spell-checker generation.

"it's a story in the paper not a spelling or grammer(sic) class."

    I guess you would know!

  • gman007 Nov 28, 2011

Yeah, why should 'journalist' worry about spelling. It's not like it's an important story. Maybe there wasn't really a chase. Maybe the 'journalist' was just 'alluding' to the fact we have police chases.
