Raleigh man accused of throwing lye in victims' faces

Raleigh, N.C. — Police have arrested a man who they say threw a mixture of lye and water in the faces of two people at a Raleigh home Thursday morning.
John Douglas Glover, 60, of 7106 Falls of Neuse Road, was jailed under a $250,000 secured bond on two counts of malicious throwing of corrosive acid or alkali.
The victims, Pamela Walker, 50, and Charlie Leach, 56, were taken to WakeMed and later transferred to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Officers were called shortly before 9 a.m. Walker's home, at 1809 Sunview St., and later took Glover into police custody.
Glover knows the victims, although it is unclear how.
He also faces misdemeanor probation violation charges and was being held without bond at the Wake County jail Thursday afternoon. According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, he is a probation absconder.
