Raleigh man accused of assaulting sheriff's deputy

Marlon Brandon Dunn is accused of punching a Wake County sheriff's deputy who was trying to arrest him for violating a domestic violence protective order.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man was arrested Friday after he allegedly assaulted a Wake County sheriff's deputy.

According to an arrest warrant, Marlon Brandon Dunn, 48, punched Deputy Chad Harrington in the chest and then flipped him to the ground while Harrington was trying to take him into custody for allegedly violating a domestic violence protective order.

Dunn was charged with one count of assault on a government official or employee and one count of violating a domestic violence protective order.

He was being held at the Wake County Detention Center without bond Sunday.
