Raleigh man accused of assaulting woman with knife

— Police charged a Raleigh man with assaulting a woman with a knife Sunday, warrants state.

Richard Ulysses Carlisle Jr., 23, of 724-A Quarry St., was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

He was being held without bond in the Wake County jail. 

Carlisle's relationship to the victim was not disclosed, but warrants indicated that the assault is being treated as domestic violence.

    @landshark: I too wish the court system would get tough on violent and repeat criminals. Instead they plea down and let them back out. Most every time you read a story the suspect has a history of crime for which they got no more than a slap on the hand.

    My take on it is that this is intentional in order to keep the wheels turning in the court system and keep everyone working. Running repeat offenders through the systems over and over supports the jobs of the cops, DAs, court reporters, jailers, judges, lawyers, bailifs, bail bondsmen, etc...

    This is the third assault by men on women reported on WRAL just from this weekend. One lady is dead! I just don't understand why? I fear the only way to get the attention of men is to lock them up and throw away the keys! This has simply got to stop!

    Well if the woman had a knife he probably has a pretty good self defense argument.
