I have know this man all my life and I do not believe he has done any of this stuff.

Maybe you did know him but how well. You WAS NOT around him 24 hours of the day. I feel for you but if he did molest these girls why can you not see that truth. It hurts but sometime we don't know the person as well as we thought we did.

hope Mr. Smith didnot commit any of these crimes

Obviously, there must have been evidence and DNA proving something. Otherwise his name would not be in the news.

You can know someone for years and never really know them at all it appears. Most preditors are like this. They live a lie. Trust no one, especially with your kids. So just as fast as some jump to convict others jump to defend. It's called an OPINION. Everyone has the right to express theirs and it will all come out in the wash. I seriously doubt he would have been accused without any evidence so those who jump to defend are as clueless as the rest of us who are just reading the story and feeling the need to express ourselves.

"I am reading the comments and I am upset with a few of you. I have know this man all my life and I do not believe he has done any of this stuff. He has been a church going, husband father and grandfather and just a loving person all my life. "

I can understand you dismay - but child molesters don't have always work in porn shops and wear signs that proclaim what they are. Child molesters can and are the very ones that you think are beyond suspicion.

This site is for people to comment on any story. Our words doesn't convict a person; that's done by the courts. If a person can't comment on a article in the forum; this site should be shut down. I've had a relative who committed a high profile crime here in the Triangle and they were convicted on this site before the trial had even begun but I know the commentors had a right to say what they wanted to say good or bad. If you can't stand the heat on this site you better get out because your feeling will get hurt especially if it involves murder or sexual abuse of children. I hope Mr. Smith didnot commit any of these crimes but sometimes we are the last to know as we were in the case of our family member that committed a henious crime; we had no idea.

How about teaching your young girls about flirting and coming on to these older men. wildcat

How about teaching these older men not to rape kids.

I do not know about this particular case, and I won't judge until the court does, but your statement about girls in general is so wrong. Just, so wrong. I don't care how much they're 'flirting', adults have the responsibility to say no, and if she keeps it up, to stay away from her, especially away from being alone.

    It's not rocket science.

I am reading the comments and I am upset with a few of you. I have know this man all my life and I do not believe he has done any of this stuff. He has been a church going, husband father and grandfather and just a loving person all my life. I think his family would appreciate it if you should some respect. They court system deal with him. You all should not the system blows things up. Let the Judge judge him not you people.
