" accidentally drowns in hot tub..."

    As opposed to on purpose?

Is there an editor in the house?

"That's odd. I live in the Delta Ridge neighborhood, where a Vista View Court is located. "

It looks like the street should be Crestview Way.

sorry...forgot to clarify. This is off Dillard Drive at the Cary border. The staff is extremely caring and attentive so it certainly wasn't their fault.

axepack, I used to live in the Asheboro and have been in that hottub. It does exist. It's a large hot tub that can accomodate at least 10+ people. There are signs everywhere that no lifeguard is on duty. I'm sure this was just a freak accident.

That's odd. I live in the Delta Ridge neighborhood, where a Vista View Court is located. The only apartment complex near there is named something different then what is stated in the article. To my knowledge, there is no hot tub in the pool complex in our neighborhood, nor in the apartment complex next to it.

    WOW Sad!

We cannot live in a totally risk averse society, you have to be responsible for your actions. There is a lot of speculating, heart condition, hitting his head or alcohol. Either way it is a sad outcome and the only person responsible was the one sitting in the tub.

I have never heard of that either. I really feel bad for his family.

If this hot tub/pool area was like every other apartment complex I've seen, then it was well marked with signs stating that there is no lifeguard on duty and residents are using the pool/hot tub at their own risk. This is a very sad situation, but he was a grown man using the pool area at a time of day and time of year when foot traffic is going to be light. An apartment complex like this probably has 3-4 staff members at most, 2 managers and 2 maintenance staff, there's no way they can monitor a hot tub at all times, nor should they. Drowning happens quickly. As others have already posted, my guess is that this guy either had a medical condition that contributed to this, or had been drinking. It's also possible that he slipped/fell and was knocked unconscious in the tub.
