Raleigh, N.C. — A magician from a popular north Raleigh Italian restaurant is hoping he can make a smile appear on chef Gordon Ramsay's face.
Shaun Jay auditioned for Ramsay's popular show "Master Chef." The Fox reality show puts aspiring chefs through a series of challenges, ultimately turning one into a culinary master.
The winner will earn the title of Master Chef, a cookbook deal and $250,000.
The first round features the best home cooks from across the country showcasing their dishes for the show's three judges - Ramsay, restaurateur Joe Bastianich and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot.
The season premiere of "Master Chef" airs at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Fox 50.
Jay is a magician who works at Casa San Carlo. The restaurant said Jay will be on-hand to watch the show during a viewing party Wednesday.
And he isn't the only North Carolinian competing. According to a press release from Fox, Steven Smith, a welder from Wilkesboro, is also on the show.
Contestants aren't allowed to talk about how they did on the show, so I guess we'll just have to watch it and see!
