Raleigh, N.C. — Andre Bost spent two weeks unaware that he had $216,400 in his wallet.
The Raleigh machine operator bought a Carolina Cash 5 lottery ticket Oct. 15 and didn’t realize he’d matched all five numbers until Tuesday, when he stopped at a convenience store to check his tickets.
“I had it with me the whole time and had no idea. It was so overwhelming. It was an unbelievable night. This whole thing just seems unreal,” Bost said in a statement released Thursday by the North Carolina Education Lottery.
Bost purchased his winning ticket at C Mini Mart on Poole Road. He arrived Thursday at the lottery office to claim his prize: $147,315 after taxes.
Bost said he plans to buy his wife a car, renovate their kitchen and put some of the money away as savings for his grandchildren.
“My wife has been with me for 27 years,” Bost said. “I’m really going to get a lot of joy out of watching her enjoy this money. She truly deserves it.”
