The classic story of "The Velveteen Rabbit" will play out on the Raleigh Little Theatre stage starting this week.

The production is the latest in the community theater's youth series. The show, based on the story by Margery Williams which makes me cry every single time I read it, features a multi-generational cast with ages between 11 and 86, according to a press release.

“The Velveteen Rabbit is a wonderful story about love that lasts and the importance of love in our lives," said Kathleen Rudolph, the company's associate education director.

The show runs on select days from Friday to March 22 in the Gaddy-Goodwin Teaching Theatre, an intimate space, which I think is a really great place for children to see performances like this. Next up in the youth series will be "Sleeping Beauty," which opens April 3.

Tickets, which are on sale now, are $14 and $10 for kids 12 and under.
