Optimist Pool in Raleigh will be an official host location for what's called the World's Largest Swimming Lesson.

During this international event, tens of thousands of kids and adults will take a swim lesson in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the sixth year in a row.

Team WLSL holds the current Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson, which stands at 36,564 participants representing 22 different countries, according to a city press release.

It all starts at 9:30 a.m., June 18, at the pool in north Raleigh. Registration, which is recommended, is available through the city park's system's RecLink. You can also sign up in person at any city of Raleigh pool.
Other private pools in the region also are participating in the program. The World's Largest Swimming Lesson's website has the details.
