Raleigh grandmother accused of leaving infant to steal wine

Posted December 6, 2010

— A Raleigh woman is accused of leaving her grandchild at home while she went to a store to steal wine.

Vivian King Leak, 48, of 3980 Neeley St., was charged Friday with shoplifting, resisting an officer and misdemeanor child abuse.

Police said Leak left a 3-month-old infant asleep on the bed next to the crib while she went to the Food Lion at 3926 Western Blvd. While at the store, police said, Leak took two mini bottles of wine.

When confronted, authorities said Leak gave them an incorrect name and birthdate.

Leak was being held under a $5,000 bond in the Wake County jail on Monday.

She is an alcoholic who should never had the child in her care in the first place. The parents are to blame for this as well.

UNCG- how in the world can you draw the conclusion that the children ar like their mother?????????????? That makes no sense at all. It's amazing that you actually have a child in college.

Fine example of really caring for her grandchild! If she were my mom there would be no more contact - ever.
