Raleigh, N.C. — Firefighters were battling a blaze at a house at 8400 Old Well Lane Thursday morning. Heavy fire was reported in the attic.
Sue Thompson said she and her husband heard a small boom in their house around 6:45 a.m. When they got up to check it out, they smelled smoke and were able to get out safely.
Thompson said they built the house in 1980 and they have insurance on it. They hope to repair the damages, she said.
There was no word on what caused the fire.
