Joyce Kekas, an at-large city council member, has sent letters to friends saying she won’t seeking re-election when herm ends at the end of November.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Joyce Kekas, an at-large city council member, has sent letters to friends saying she won’t seeking re-election when her ends at the end of November.

Kekas said she has a new granddaughter and wants to spend time with her family. Also, she said she has been re-evaluating her life since her recent treatment for breast cancer.

“I’ll continue to be involved with the city of Raleigh, but this time on my time line, not on the city council's,” she wrote in the letter.
