— A proposed Sheetz gas station at the corner of North New Hope and Buffaloe roads that sparked neighborhood opposition was quashed by City Councilors this week.

Raleigh City Council members Tuesday voted to hold the final decision of a rezoning application until their next meeting in September, allowing the developer time to file a new application that prohibits gas stations on the 6-acre property.

The vacant 6-acre lot on the corner of New Hope and Buffaloe roads is currently zoned Residential-6. Applicant Dean Marion wanted to change that zoning to Neighborhood Business, which would allow retail and offices to be built.

Areas zoned neighborhood business can have a gas station.

"hmm. sounds like this developer wasn't a neighbor or campaign donor of russ stephenson."

Raleigh Citizens who live in the area are thankful that Russ Stephenson and John Odom take our concerns seriously.

"The store would do better somewhere else, and so would the neighborhood!"

My house has been here for over 30 years.

I'm unsure of where else it might go, or how it might get there.

I wouldn't mind a Sheetz there. The gas stations on 401 and New Hope I wouldn't mind seeing go out of business.

Common Sensey, that happens at a lot of gas stations at night, not just at your local Sheetz.

ole guy, did they take marketing ideas from WALLY WORLD?

Sheetz gas stations seem to attract "undesireable" types, especially at night. The Sheetz in Fuquay has the police called to it pretty much each weekend evening for kids fighting, doing drugs in the parking lot, theft, etc.

I'm hoping and praying that Sheetz will put in a station at the White Oak shopping center sooner or later (preferably SOONER)!

"Sorry to say but a Sheetz station will close and run out of business your other stations, and very fast,However be ready for some really cheep gas, till they run the others out,,"

When will Amazon.com start selling gas? Or are they already selling it?
