Raleigh car dealer accused running scam

Officials with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles said Franklin Torere, 57, who owns Fovie Auto on Brenton Place, charged eight customers fees for titles and tags on their cars. Torere is accused of never processing that information through the DMV, according to arrest warrants.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh car dealer is accused of taking customers for a ride. 

Officials with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles said Franklin Torere, 57, who owns Fovie Auto on Brenton Place, charged eight customers fees for titles and tags on their cars. Torere is accused of never processing that information through the DMV, according to arrest warrants. 

One customer was charged $100, according to investigators. 

Torere was being held under a $100,000 bond in the Wake County jail on Wednesday.
