Raleigh, N.C. — The owner of Leo Tire Shop, 1616 Automotive Way in Raleigh, was stabbed during an attempted robbery Thursday evening, police said.
Leonel Martinez, 38, suffered a stab would to his upper left thigh. He was taken to WakeMed Hospital. Police said his injuries were serious, but he was expected to recover.
Martinez was locking up the tire shop when he was stabbed during the robbery attempt around 8 p.m., police said. The shop had been closed for several hours, but it wasn't unusual for the owner to stay late.
Police did not have a suspect description.
