RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh-based A.J. Fletcher Foundation announced grants of more than $1 million on Tuesday to North Carolina nonprofits.

The Fletcher Foundation has ties to Capitol Broadcasting, parent company of WRAL.com.

Fletcher added seven nonprofits to its roster of support so far in 2013, and has granted more than $100,000 to the University of North Carolina School of Journalism, WUNC Radio and the NC Early Childhood Foundation.

“We’re looking for non-profits who support programs aligned with our priority initiatives for the year, including early childhood education, public schools in an era of choice, East Durham, and media and journalism innovation,” said Fletcher Executive Director Damon Circosta in a statement.
