Raleigh bank robbed at gunpoint

— Raleigh police are searching for the man who robbed Wachovia bank, 6623 Falls of Neuse Road, shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said the suspect robbed the bank at gunpoint and was last seen fleeing on foot.

The suspect was described as a black man, about 5-foot-8 with a slender build. He was wearing a blue or gray hooded jacket, dark-colored pants and Timberland boots. The man wore a mask over his face.

Anyone with information that might assist the investigation is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department’s Detective Division at 919-996-3555 or Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP.

    Because that's what thugs wear. Generally with some sort of mishappen winter hat. And in the summer, the description changes to white t-shirt or black t-shirt over baggy blue jeans or baggy black jeans, and sneakers. Sometimes with a baseball hat or those stupid nylon head wraps that look like you cut up your mommy's pantyhose and tied it around your head.

    Yeah, I recall seeing that bank was robbed just a short time ago.....geez! I wondered what was going on yesterday. I was walking out of the Harris Teeter on Falls at Durant and saw 3 cruisers with lights on racing fown Falls of Neuse towards town.

    That's right down the street from the bank that I work for. I hope that they catch this culprit before he strikes again.
