An update on Colleen Parrish, owner of Raleigh Baby Planner and one of Go Ask Mom's featured moms this year.
Parrish tells me that she is now an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and can provide in-home lactation consults for expectant and new moms. She also has started a breastfeeding clinic at the pediatric practice where she works.
Parrish, a mom of two, holds a breastfeeding clinic on Monday and Friday mornings in the north Raleigh location of Growing Child Pediatrics. She has one-hour appointments dedicated to helping moms with any breastfeeding issue or concern. Clients do not have to be regular patients at Growing Child, though the practice can file their insurance for visits (the usual copays still apply).
For details, go to Growing Child Pediatrics' website.
As Parrish shares on her blog, she definitely knows that breastfeeding doesn't always come easy for every mom.
"I know firsthand how painful, challenging, and exhausting breastfeeding can be," she writes. "I have been there. But as a lactation consultant, I also know it doesn't have to be that way, it shouldn't be that way. New moms need and deserve the right information and support so they can have a successful experience."
I'm adding her services to our breastfeeding resources page.
