— A Raleigh attorney has been charged in connection with a vehicle theft.

Officials in New Hanover County confirmed Wednesday that attorney Nick Stratas was being held in the county jail, accused of stealing a car. He also faces two separate charges for failing to show up in court.

He was indicted by a grand jury last month on embezzlement charges in Wake County. And he was scheduled to be in court July 17 in Wake County for cyber-stalking and larceny charges.

He was always trying to prove himself to everyone, but mostly to himself. With all his legal problems in Wilmington and Raleigh, I expect he will be in jail for quite a long time. Really sad story.

YOLO - "You should ask the DA to sit in the deliberation room one morning... see how the DA,lawyers,LEO interact... You'd be surprised what is said behind those doors before court starts."

Nope, wouldn't. Nothing of what happens in court rooms and magistrates offices surprises me anymore.

There's more detail in the N&O article. Sounds like he has some mental health issues. Hope he gets some help before he hurts himself or someone else or both.

I don't know him personally but he had a good reputation. Sounds like maybe some organic brain disease or perhaps even a tumor. I've known other professionals who cracked, and it turned out to be that.

@dollibug, lol your right, they are mostly all corrupt but just don't get caught, and if they do get caught, it only takes 1 phone call (Sometimes none) to get off the hook.

People wonder why defendants say they can receive proper representation even when paid for. Of course everyone thinks everyone gets away with the crime. The attorney does that is about it

I hope he knows a good lawyer.

I wonder if he "stole" a car in the usual sense or if he kept one beyond the rental or lease period.
