Raleigh approves location for police memorial

The Raleigh City Council on Tuesday approved a request from the Raleigh Police Memorial Foundation to design and construct a memorial honoring officers killed in the line of duty.

The memorial would be in front of the Raleigh Municipal Building, at 222 W. Hargett St. There was no time frame for when the memorial would be erected and dedicated.

The eight fallen officers and the dates of their deaths are Tom Crabtree, Sept. 1, 1922; Robert Sparks, March 8, 1968; James Lee, Dec. 5, 1968; James Allen, Dec. 5, 1968; D.D. Adams, Feb. 3, 1980; Denise Holden, Aug. 4, 1995; Paul Hale, July 11, 1997; and Charles Paul, Sept. 10, 2002.

It makes me so happy that the Raleigh City Council approved the request for the memorial for the fallen officers. That will be a place I can go and say a little pray or just set down and spend so time there, my son 's name will be on the memorial. Thanks to The Raleigh City Council. Mother Of A Fallen Officer.
