WRAL is forecasting some stormy weather on Saturday. Be sure to keep an eye on the skies and the forecast if you are planning outdoor activities. Two local parks departments already have been forced to change plans.
Apex has canceled its ribbon cutting ceremony and events on Saturday to celebrate the opening of the new Apex Nature Park and athletic fields. John Brown, the town's park director, tells me that the park will be open to the public on Saturday, there just won't be any special events.

Also, Durham has postponed its plans at Lake Michie on Saturday because of the weather. The Lake Grand Opening Celebration, planned for Saturday, is now 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday. The free event includes paddle sports,  games and prizes. Refreshments will be served.

The Go Fish program, where the public can learn about fishing techniques, identification and other angling information, has been moved to 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., April 6. The cost is $5 to $11. Pre-registration is required for the fishing activity.

For more information about the Durham programs, contact John Sautter at John.Sautter@durhamnc.gov or 919-560-4405. For weather updates call 919-560-4636, ext. 7.

UPDATE: The N.C. Museum of History's Cedars in the Pines Festival planned for Saturday also has been postponed.
