Rain showers moving out, clouds staying put
Steady rain showers that dominated central and eastern North Carolina's weather for the first half of the day Saturday were pushing east at noon, setting up a cloudy, cool afternoon for much of the state.
Posted — UpdatedA final band of light rain should clear through the Triangle by early afternoon as high temperatures will top out in the upper 40s.
After another brief round of light sprinkles and showers overnight, sunshine will return to the Triangle for the final day of the weekend.
"We could see some low clouds to start the day Sunday, but by lunchtime it should turn mostly sunny," Moss said. "It will end up being pretty nice."
Highs will climb to near 60 degrees during the afternoon.
Monday will start cool and stay mostly cloudy ahead of the next batch of rain, which will arrive late in the day and linger on Tuesday.
Dry weather returns Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and temperatures should be steady in the mid-50s.
