Rain showers expected on first day of work week
Clouds were filtering into central and eastern North Carolina late Sunday, setting the stage for a cool, wet start to the work week across much of the area.

An approaching frontal system could bring a few sprinkles or light rain Monday morning, mainly from around the Triangle area west, Johnson said.
"It will not be a day you want to park your car and leave your windows open," he said. "We will see a band of rain move through the area around 11 a.m., but by 4 p.m. the rain moves out."
Monday's chance of rain peaks at 50 percent in the afternoon, and a high of 63 degrees is expected.
"Once the rain ends, skies will clear fairly quickly, and we'll end the day with mostly sunny conditions," Johnson added.
Johnson said more spring-like temperatures are on the way.
Highs in the 60s are expected for most of the week and a climb into the 70s will come on Friday.
"We've had some warm spells here the last couple of weeks from time to time, so I think a lot of people are thinking, 'Gosh, we're really having some cold weather late in the season," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said about the chilly weekend.
But data shows that chilly days can happen well into April and even later in North Carolina. In fact, freezing temperatures were recorded at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on May 10, 1977.
