Triangle gets break from rain before Tropical Storm Cindy approaches

A few spotty showers remained throughout the region following a rainy Wednesday morning, but things are expected to dry out completely overnight, according to WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze.

"The chance of getting wet this evening is very slim and it should dry out overnight," he said.

After that system moves north through Louisiana and Texas, computer forecast models show it making a turn toward the Tar Heel State.

The already disorganized Cindy will begin to fall apart more, but it could bring weekend rain to the Triangle region. Maze said the amount of rain the Triangle sees will depend on how far south the storm tracks as it approaches North Carolina.

"Right now, it's not set in stone where it will go. That's why we need to watch it day by day," he said.
