RAEFORD, N.C. — A 23-year-old Raeford man is facing charges in connection with a November sexual assault on a juvenile, Hoke County investigators said Wednesday.

Hoke County deputies on Tuesday arrested Rakeem Deonte Dillard, of 250 Quail Drive, and charged him with first-degree statutory sexual offense.

Investigators said Dillard assaulted the victim while she slept during the early-morning hours on Nov. 19, 2013.

The victim's mother confronted Dillard following the assault, but he fled before Hoke County deputies were called, officials said in a news release.

Dillard was arrested Tuesday after investigators received a call from the victim's mother. He was released after posting a $50,000 secured bond.

No other information about the investigation was released.
