Raeford bank robbery ends in three-county chase

Authorities arrested a suspected bank robbery Tuesday after a chase that began in Raeford and wound through Cumberland County before ending in a wreck in Bladen County.

RAEFORD, N.C. — Authorities arrested a suspected bank robbery Tuesday after a chase that began in Raeford and wound through Cumberland County before ending in a wreck in Bladen County.

Fidelity Bank, at 112 Laurinburg Road in Raeford, was robbed at about 10:30 a.m., and authorities from different jurisdictions followed the suspected getaway car through three counties before it crashed in a ditch off N.C. Highway 87 near Tar Heel.

The suspected robber wasn't injured and was taken into custody, authorities said.

No other information was immediately available.
