Radisson in RTP to be razed

Research Triangle Park, N.C. — The foundation that operates Research Triangle Park has purchased the Radisson Hotel off N.C. Highway 54 and plans to demolish it.
The Radisson, which was formerly known as the Governor's Inn, was built in 1972 and has performed poorly in recent years as more hotels opened in the area. The hotel's owners put it up for auction several months ago.
Research Triangle Foundation President Bob Geolas said his organization put in a bid – the terms weren't disclosed – to prevent someone else from acquiring the site and bringing in a hotel that doesn't meet RTP's standards.
There's no word on what the foundation plans to do with the site once the hotel is razed.
