Rabid cat found in Durham

Posted October 12, 2010

— The Durham County Health Department said some residents in the Bennett Memorial Road area of Durham might have been exposed to a rabid cat.

Public health officials said a stray cat in the area tested positive for rabies last Wednesday.

Officials are asking anyone who visited businesses or facilities in close proximity to Bennett Memorial Road who might have come in contact with the animal since Sept. 19 to call the Durham County Health Department at 919-560-7600 and to visit their regular physician.

The stray cat is described as a young, gray tabby with white fur on the chest and gold eyes.

soo... shoot all "free" cats and dogs because they aren't captive and loved/fed by one particular person. Can the same be applied to lone wolf skateboarders?

hey, My cats were born feral but someone had the smarts enough to trap the mother and kittens. Why shout poor innocent cats or dogs?
