Quick thinking helped control Fayetteville gas station fire

The fuel pump was knocked over by a car and caught fire. Quick -thinking employees who utilized safety cut-offs at the pump helped the fire department control the incident.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Kangaroo Express gas station has re-opened following a fire at a fuel pump Sunday afternoon.

According to Captain Roger Sullivan, the Fayetteville Fire/Emergency Management Department responded to a report of an explosion at a fuel pump at a Kangaroo Express at 2001 Skibo Road at 1:53 p.m. Sunday.

The fuel pump was knocked over by a car and caught fire. Sullivan said that quick –thinking employees who utilized safety cut-offs at the pump helped the fire department control the incident. Foam was used to control the fires and vapors from the gasoline.

Although the Kangaroo Express has reopened, they are currently unable to distribute fuel.

Nobody was injured in the fire.
