Quest takes Fishel to Alabama

The O'Fishel Quest takes another step on Wednesday as I travel to the University of Alabama at Huntsville to interview Dr. John Christy.

Dr. Christy is best known for the tremendous work he has done in helping to develop a satellite-based temperature record for the entire globe, which dates back to 1979. He does not deny that humans are influencing the climate, but he is not at all convinced that significant policy action should be pursued to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. I will continue to do my best to ask provoking questions, just as I did with the two climate scientists in Boulder, Colo. Scientists are always called upon to be skeptical of their current hypothesis. So I ask questions that focus on elements of this debate that run contrary to the interviewee's opinions. I firmly believe this is the best way to cut through the garbage that is being circulated by non-credentialed individuals on both sides of this debate.

And by the way, to prepare for this next interview, I watched Dr. Christy's testimony before a Senate Committee back in August of 2012. It was unfortunate that the questions he was asked clearly showed that the questioners did not understand his testimony. Before this day is out, I will try to make sure that all of us understand exactly what he is saying.
