Publix coming to Cary in 2014!

Posted August 2, 2013

Publix has officially announced that it is building a new grocery store in Cary that is scheduled to open in late 2014!

We have been talking here on the blog about Publix coming to the Triangle ever since they entered the Charlotte market in 2012.  They built  two stores just across the state line in South Carolina.  In addition to the Cary store, there will be new locations in Charlotte and Asheville as well.

The new 49,000 square foot store in Cary will be located at the corner of High House Road and Davis Drive in the Bradford Shopping Center, according to the WRAL article above.

In many areas, Publix stores double coupons that are 50-cents or less (other than in Florida).  Hopefully they will be doubling here in NC as well. For a copy of their coupon policy, see their website in the link above. I'll have more posted on the coupon doubling policy for the Cary store soon.

If you have shopped at Publix in the past, what do you think about the store?

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts on Publix. I am really looking forward to seeing additional Publix locations in the Triangle. The Harrison location is too far for me to travel for groceries but hopefully they will open other locations throughout the area.

Family lives in Greenville SC and this may be coincidental, but the Food Lions closed where the Publix went in. Publix is clean and well staffed, very similar to Harris Teeter. I have noticed the same cashiers over the years, seems to not have a lot of turnover in employees which really says something about them as an employer.

Being from Florida I grew up on publix. They were always one of the best grocery stores in FLorida, clean aisles, awesome cakes, fresh produce and quality customer service. Im looking forward to it!

I'm excited about Publix coming to town even if it's more than a bit of a ride. We may need them even more if our beloved HT becomes like Kroger.

So how big is a 49,000 square foot store? Is that big by grocrey store standards?

I visit my FIL in Florida as often as I can, and Publix is where it's at. Clean stores, awesome customer service.

And, really, competition in the market is good for prices. Bring it on!

I love Publix. When I travel to Georgia and Florida I always shop there. It's very clean, organized, and they have good customer service. I always found good deals and was able to use my coupons.

I am SO excited! I lived in FL for 4 years and started my couponing there. Publix was awesome! Even though they did not double coupons at all(a FL thing), I got really awesome deals! There was a lot of opportunity for overage when combining sales, manufacturers coupons and store coupons which helped to offset the cost of other items. They were extremely coupon friendly! Hope their policies have remained the same since it has been 2 years since I have couponed there. Can't wait for them to get here!! Stores were always very nice and clean...similar to HT. Agree with cmk617, their bakery was great plus they made the best fried chicken and had a really good store brand lemonade. YUM!

Growing up in Florida, Publix was THE nicest store around: clean, well-organized, great customer service. I tell my family when they come to town that HT is very similar to Publix. My wedding cake was from Publix and it was both beautiful and delicious.
