Progress Energy IDs Route for New Power Line

— Progress Energy has selected a route for a new 64-mile power line the utility says is necessary to keep up with growing demand.

The line will run through parts of Richmond, Scotland, Hoke and Cumberland counties.

The plan must now be approved by the state utilities commission.

    Well this is curious; I thought we were going green. Why build a power line? Why not windmills and solar arrays? Why not millions of bike riders on stationary bikes, pedaling away and generating power.
