Tech Talent South, an adult beginner's computer coding program, is offering free weekly coding programs for kids ages 9 to 13.
Tech Talent South operates out of HQ Raleigh, a shared workspace for new or small firms, at 310 S. Harrington St., in downtown Raleigh.

Magdalyn Duffie, Tech Talent South's community organizer, tells me that the program draws kids from across the Triangle. It's designed for kids ages 9 to 13. Students need to have an internet-connected laptop. They must be proficient at typing and be able to type and copy text into a program. She teaches HTML, CSS and JavaScript over seven weeks on Tuesday afternoons.

"We encourage kids to come as much as they can, but if they only come to one session, I’ve got it worked out so it’s easy to keep up and still have fun," Duffie tells me.

The next session, which starts next week, is full. But Duffie tells me that another session is planned beginning in April. She's also looking at offering some summer programs as well.

Duffie has an eventbrite site with more information.
