MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A private plane landed on its belly in the general aviation area of Raleigh-Durham International Airport Wednesday, RDU spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said.

No one was injured in the incident, and commercial air traffic wasn't affected, she said.

The landing occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m when the Piper Seneca landed on Runway 14-32 after experiencing trouble with its landing gear, officials said.

It was not immediately clear whether the pilot, the only person on the plane, had communicated with the airport tower that he was having problems.
