Sandwiches, snacks made in NC are subject of recall

Posted October 12, 2014

SunBurst Foods of Goldsboro issued a recall notice Sunday for a variety of sandwich, fruit and snack products sold under the Fresh Bites and other private labels in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.

The foods may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems, the company said.

The products are sometimes sold under the labels of: River Edge Farms, CFW, Southern Zest, CJ’s Vending, Binford Street Deli, Middle Georgia Vendors, Roanoke Foods, Select Foods, and Jesse Jones (Double Chili Dogs).

That has to be the longest list of recalled items that has ever been put out at one time.
