How do you move a house across a lake? Very carefully, it turns out. When Winter Park, Florida needed to move Capen House, a historical structure from the 1880s, it came up with a rather innovative solution: it cut the structure in half. (The halves were dubbed "Fred" and "Ginger.") Once halved, the home was easier to gracefully transport across Lake Oswego to the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Garden, where the home was reassembled by a crack team of Orlando remodelers.

While the exterior of the home has been successfully restored, the interior still needs work. Preservation advocates are confident that public support will help them finish the job, ensuring that future generations will be able to enjoy this lovely structure.
