Power restored after fire in Fuquay-Varina
A fire at a substation knocked out electric service to thousands of Progress Energy customers in Fuquay-Varina early Wednesday.
Posted — UpdatedFUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — A fire at a substation knocked out electric service to thousands of Progress Energy customers in Fuquay-Varina early Wednesday.
A spokesman for the company said that 28,000 people lost power immediately after the outage at 4:40 a.m. Service was restored by around 7 a.m.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.
