RALEIGH, N.C. — A single-car crash knocked out power early Tuesday to about 300 homes in North Raleigh and saw authorities detouring drivers on a stretch of Leesville Road.

Leesville Road between Dominion Boulevard and St. Francis Drive was expected to remain closed until about 1 p.m. while representatives of Duke Energy work on repairs. They will replace a damaged utility pole and underground power lines, a spokesman said.

Two schools nearby – The Franciscan School and Sycamore Creek Elementary – did not lose power and planned to hold classes on the usual schedule.

Police recommended that drivers avoid the closure by taking Shady Grove Road, Carpenter Pond Road and Hickory Grove Church Road.
