— Chatham County sheriff's deputies who pulled a man over for a traffic stop got more than they bargained for when the smell of marijuana wafted from the car of Julandus Answan Foushee.

Foushee, 21, of 2004 Homestead Road in Chapel Hill, admitted to possession of the drugs and Cpl. Chris Marioles and Cpl. Phillip Richard seized more than 246 grams of marijuana from his car.

They charged Foushee with felonious possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felonious possession of marijuana, felonious maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 6.

    Oh! I'm aghast!

    Pot in Chapel Hill!!! Never!!!

  • THE-ESQ Jun 18, 2009

You need to come argue with us at the other article about actually legalizing it. Don't even get me started on polluting this page.

  • whocares Jun 18, 2009

At least he didn't try to out run the police and endanger the public. I wonder if anyone in the government (probably not) has ever sat down and figured out how much money could be made by legalizing pot, if they regulated it like alcohol and tobacco.

Wow WRAL this really is news. The others keep bashing you but I think you are doing a great job. You should dedicate a whole section to this story. You can always do like the newspapers do, and have a crimelog, ahaha. This one guy. What about the 25 young black guys that got pulled over and arrested in Durham last night? Where are their articles, ahaha

Must be a slow news day...a guy had pot and the president swatted a fly. What IS this world coming to?

  • EverythingTicksMeOff Jun 18, 2009

Kinda harsh for someone who only had 8 ounces of pot. Not sure how that equates to intent to distribute.

  • blondton13 Jun 18, 2009

Oh wow! A man had pot. Big whoop.

  • prettyj Jun 18, 2009

Its Pittsboro...of course a young black man is going to be pulled over and placed in jail with this high of a bond. It happens all the time here in Pittsboro. Now the Chatham county sheriffs department will "misplace the pot" and do exactly what this guy was going to do with it. Recall several years ago when pounds and pounds of pot got missing from the landfill and the sheriff stepped down!! You gotta love Chatham County!

Folks, perhaps this individual's 'business' includes selling more than just marijuana. They just didn't find the meth/heroin/cocaine/crack this time.

It may have changed, but folks who sold pot did not sell the other drugs. They knew the penalties were far less harsh for getting caught with pot. And these folks DO know that they WILL get caught if they sell it long enough.

POOR ARTICLE. WRAL, please share more newsworthy headlines. It almost hurts my feelings that as a taxpayer, you have posted a piece of "news" that is worthy of The Slammer rather than a respected News Station. Disappointing. Next time, share news about what local nonprofits are working hard to achieve.
