RALEIGH, N.C. — PSNC Energy is investigating a possible gas leak near downtown Raleigh Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the Boylan Road and North Street area after residents reported smelling gas since as early as Sunday. Tucker, St. Mary's and Peace streets are also closed near the scene.

PSNC Energy has cut off the gas supply and is sending a camera into the line to determine whether there is an actual leak or just an odor.

Authorities declined to estimate when roads would reopen.
