WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Several businesses along Durham Road in Wake Forest, including Zaxby's, Waffle House and Dunkin Donuts, reopened Wednesday afternoon after they were briefly closed due to the discovery of a possible fuel spill.

Authorities closed the businesses at about 2 p.m. after the possible spill was found. Officials determined the petroleum-based substance, which stained the ground, had evaporated and posed no danger.

The businesses were reopened at about 4 p.m.
