Posted May 10

— There is a new cafe and bar and private event space coming to Raleigh's Dock 1053.

PoshNosh Catering owner Chef Coleen Speaks announced Tuesday that she will open Whitaker & Atlantic, a private event space, and Hummingbird cafe and bar this fall in the revitalized warehouse at the corner of Whitaker Mill Road and Atlantic Avenue.

Whitaker & Atlantic will have is own on-site kitchen, separate from the PoshNosh Catering kitchen. The space will also have a permanent bar, access to the outdoor promenade and a bridal suite.

“There’s a need in this market for an event space that can accommodate and elevate large weddings and corporate events, and do so in a setting that reflects Raleigh’s progressive and creative style,” Speaks said.

Hummingbird will be located at the corner of Dock 1053. During the day the menu will include coffee, pastries, sandwiches and open-faced tartines and possible prepared foods to-go.

"Hummingbird’s focus in the evenings will be on the intimate bar experience, serving craft cocktails, a curated wine and champagne list, and small plates,” Speaks said.

Speaks has a decade of expereince in the food and beverage industry, which has included time at Emeril Lagasse’s NOLA Restaurant and locally at Bloomsbury Bistro and Enoteca Vin. She launched PoshNosh Catering in 2007.
