Chimney Rock, N.C. — The Hickory Nut Falls Trail at Chimney Rock State Park was closed Friday and will remain off limits for an indefinite period after an overnight rainstorm Wednesday brought down several trees and boulders onto the trail, blocking access and damaging a footbridge.
The popular trail, which leads to the bottom of the 404-foot-high waterfall, could be closed for weeks, according to the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.
