Raleigh's Haymaker remade with Christmas spirit

Miracle at The Haymaker, at 555 Fayetteville St., is one of more than 50 holiday pop-up locations worldwide. The tradition started four years ago in New York City.

Donned with festive decorations, the bar delivers serious Christmas vibes, as bartenders in tacky sweaters serve delicious themed cocktails.

"We've gotten a great response so far," said General Manager Josh Gagne. "We've seen a substantial increase of people coming in."

This is the first year the winter wonderland experience has been in North Carolina.

"It's been awesome so far. It's very fun. The drinks are awesome…and each night, just about, people come in wearing Santa hats and stuff," Gagne said.

This year's signature cocktail menu includes a festive take on a classic Old Fashioned.

The "Snowball Old Fashioned" is made with gingerbread bourbon, wormwood bitters and lemon zest. It also includes a massive round ice cube, which looks like a snowball.

Gagne's favorite is the "Fa La La La La," a Christmas-y twist on a gin fizz.

"Its flavors you wouldn't expect in a gin fizz, so it's got a little Christmas kick to it," he said.

Miracle at The Haymaker is open through Dec. 28. The Haymaker is closed on Christmas Day.
